About Krystal Star - Artist

Krystal Star was born December 2, 1961 in Peru, Indiana. Music became her best friend as a young child and it was something she was very good at. At age 12 she was paid for the first time for her vocal talent, the occasion was a wedding and her first professional gig. Every year after that from grades 6 - 10 she competed in national vocal and ensemble competitions, solos and trios, winning 1st place in consecutive years.

As a minor she would sit in with a band at a club called the Mint Julep and this was her entry into the club experience. People from all over the county would come see her sing her heart out. In her later teen years she moved to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area of Texas and never left. Shortly after arriving, she answered an advertisement for a female vocalist and was promptly asked to audition over the phone, which she did and was accepted right on the spot. She was later brought two songs to learn and would be in a recording studio within 24 hours. Her networking connections at the studio led to other opportunities. She would record and sing two songs which were promptly marketed as a single on a 45. One song, cold Stone Wall, was picked hit of the month on the charts and she remembers that the national acknowledgment was an amazing honor for her and she was on top of the world. Eventually her investor lost money in the oil crisis of the 80's and the game was over. This gave her the appreciation of an unforgettable experience she would never forget.

Still the love of music was with her and she joined a show band then later met a fellow whom she married and created a duo where she played the Holiday Inn, Sheraton and Wyatt hotel circuits up until 1991. After her divorce she started a new life with her children in Galveston Texas. Again, besides here regular job, she continued to perform in and around the city of Galveston at the various upscale clubs in the Strand District and the Seawall.

She later retired from performing and spent most of her time working and writing lyrics for songs. On a suggestion from a friend, she eventually wrote a song about our contry's soldiers going off to war. The song invoked the heartfelt feelings of those who put their lives on the line for their country and would bring peace to those who lost a loved one in a far off land in battle. This song woudl eventually be titled, Thank You From America. She knew this song had to be heard and it was eventually recorded by friends and those who believed in the song's message. All the artists donated their time and effort to bringing this song alive. It was recorded in a small studio in Galveston which would eventually become, Gil Wayne's Digital Domain.

Thank You From America, was written to thank those troops who had to leave home to protect their country and their freedom and is intended to thank all those of past generations as well. The song along with a video was released on You Tube in 2010 in the hopes of reaching the ears of those in foreign lands sent to war.

Currently she volunteers for the Galveston VFW when they call on her to sing and has also become involved with an organization called, Texas Salute to Military Service. This group shows their appreciaton by welcoming troops home from service.
